Checks one page as a search engine sees it, plus your robots.txt and sitemap. Takes a few seconds.

How to use the SEO checker

  1. Enter the page you care about most, usually your homepage or pricing page.
  2. Start with anything marked Fix: those stop a page from being indexed or shown properly.
  3. Then work through Improve, most important first. Each one says what to change.
  4. Deploy, then check again to see the score move.

The checks that matter most

A page that says noindex, or a robots.txt that blocks every crawler, will not appear in Google however good it is, so those weigh most. Next come the title and meta description, which decide whether people click, and a single clear H1 that says what the page is about.

Speed and size matter because Google measures how quickly real visitors see the page. The checker times how fast your server answers; for a full picture of loading speed on phones, run the page through PageSpeed Insights as well.

What the checker can’t see

On-page SEO is half the job. The other half is other sites linking to yours. Check how established a domain is with the domain rating checker, and find places to earn your first links in our list of launch directories.

Frequently asked questions

What does the SEO checker look at?

It loads the page the way a search engine would and checks the basics (HTTPS, response code, redirects, server speed and page size), the content (title, meta description, H1, heading order, amount of text and image alt text), indexing (noindex, canonical link, robots.txt, sitemap, language and mobile viewport) and sharing (Open Graph, X card, favicon and structured data).

How is the score worked out?

Each check is good, worth a look or a problem, and the important ones count more: a page that tells Google not to index it loses far more than one without a favicon. The score is the share of points the page earns, out of 100. A page that fails to load, or that tells search engines to skip it, is capped at a low score: nothing else matters until that is fixed.

Does a high score mean I will rank first?

No. The checker covers what is on the page and how it is served. Ranking also depends on how useful the content is, how many good sites link to you and how strong the competition is. A high score means nothing on the page is holding you back.

Why does it say it could not reach my site?

The site may be down, take more than 8 seconds to answer, block automated visitors, or the address may be mistyped. Only public pages can be checked: pages behind a login or on a private network cannot.

Is there a limit?

You can run 30 checks a day. The limit resets at midnight UTC.
